What We Do With Your Generous Donations

Grace’s Fund at the Freeport Pet Clinic, Freeport, Florida – A financial contribution was made to aid
in the treatment for a victim of severe cruelty.  Her name is Grace and she was found horribly burned. She
was relinquished to the Alaqua Animal Refuge to oversee her recovery and adoption.

Plumtrees Animal Hospital, Danbury, CT – A financial contribution was made to aid in the veterinary
care of a rescued puppy, Boots, who is stricken with parvovirus. Boots’ brother, unfortunately succumbed
to the disease.

Meriden Humane Society, Meriden, CT – Financial and material contributions were made to aid in the
recovery of a severely abused cat who was found with a broken jaw and head trauma. An additional, 52
cats & 2 dogs were rescued along with this cat from a New Britain, CT home in a horrible case of animal
hoarding. Previously, the Meriden Humane Society had accepted over 67 cats in a similar animal hoarding
case. In both instances the animals were found living in deplorable conditions.

All Creatures Vet – in c/o Cathy’s Rotties, Rescue & Rehab, North Stonington, CT – A financial
contribution was made to assess an eight year old female Rottweiler named Sammie.  She was extremely
underweight and malnourished, obviously suffering greatly and was denied medical care. Her owner was
convinced to release her into rescue.  B.A.A.C.’s contribution directly funded all of her medical testing.
Unfortunately, the diagnosis was advanced cancer and she was euthanized to end her horrendous
suffering.

Prospect Veterinary Hospital, Prospect, CT – A financial contribution was made to the Mercer Pitbull
Rescue account to aid in the veterinary care of puppies rescued from the south and to treat a puppy with
demodectic mange.

Happy Feet Retreat, Stafford Springs, CT – A financial contribution was made to aid with the care with
rescued goats. In many instances these animals are relinquished because their owners could not properly
care for them or socialize them.

Halfway Home Rescue, North Haven, CT – A financial contribution was made towards the Halfway
Home Cut-a-thon. The Cut-a-thon funds will go directly towards the trap/neuter/release program which
aims to help control feral cat populations in the Hamden area and reduce the occurrence of euthanasia at
overcrowded animal control facilities.

SPCA of CT, Monroe, CT – Material and financial contributions were made along with the donation of a
whole lot of good old fashioned elbow grease as part of the B.A.A.C. Clean-up of the SPCA of CT.  Many
members and friends turned out to lend a hand and many generous donations were made by CT
businesses.  The results are spectacular.

Cameron - Found!

Kado Pet Foundation -  http://helpforpets.org/wordpress/
All the Pet Supplies and Food received at the July B.A.A.C. Biker Rodeo was donated to the Kado Pet
Foundation.  The Kado Pet Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt charity that helps low-income people who
are either seniors age 60 or above or people who are in permanent hardship situations, usually due to
medical condition(s). They take over the lifetime care of the animal companions so that they can stay in
their homes with their families! This includes, but is not limited to veterinary expenses, food, litter and
assistance with care.  We were honored to be able to help this noble cause.

Skeeter and 2 Kittens –Yesterday’s Kittens
A Monetary contribution was made to Yesterday’s Kittens’ veterinary office, Chester Veterinary Clinic,
Chester, CT,  for a neglected cat in need of medical attention as well as 2 kittens - who's mommas are
feral - that have come from a colony in Plainville.  They were hit hard by a virus and are at this point blind.
The globes of their eyes have ruptured and are in the process of healing.  Unfortunately, Skeeter did not
make it through the surgery.  Whoever the vet was who did the initial work was not very tactful.  The vet
doesn't know how the cat survived as long as it did.  He's being cremated and will remain with Karen of
Yesterday’s Kittens.  Thank you Karen for all that you do for those unwanted cats!

Clay – Nick of Time Rescue
A monetary contribution was made to Nick of Time Rescue’s vet’s office, Wester Veterinary Clinic,
Thomson, GA, for veterinary care from severe embedded collar.  He was picked up by animal control from
his home where his owner knew his collar was embedded in his neck and his only defense was to say he
didn't know it was 'that bad.' His now former owner has been charged with animal cruelty and will have his
day in court. Lucky (named by the animal control inmate that cared for him during his stay at Clayton –
now named Clay) has been rescued and is safe and now just has to heal from his horrific wounds and go
on to be adopted by a loving family. He will require several more trips to the vet for additional care. Any
financial help would be greatly appreciated for this deserving boy as his vet bills continue.  Thank you Lee
for all that you do!

Emeelu – ACHS Rescue
A monetary donation was made to Emeelu’s veterinarian.  She was rescued in the median of I-95 at
Florence SC while traveling to Emerald Isle (thus her name)
No one stopped to help even though she was panic stricken and on three legs, she finally laid down and
allowed her rescuer to pick her up.  She was in rough shape, needing hip and leg surgery and was
heartworm positive.

Chained Momma and 9 Puppies – Pity 4 Us Rescue
A monetary contribution was made to assist with the veterinary care for spaying a mama dog and vetting
her 9 beautiful puppies that she delivered on the end of a chain.  People have worked hard to get the
owner to surrender the dogs since being outdoors 24/7 in the heat was no place for a nursing mother and
her babies all while chained. A dog house was finally provided to help keep them out of the extreme
weather.  After attempts of others trying to steal the pups and the fear that the parents would be next, the
owner finally agreed to relinquish all the dogs into rescue where they will be altered, and treated for ticks,
fleas and worms.  Mom, Dad and pups are all safe at Pity 4 Us Rescue!

3 Emaciated Pit Bull Puppies 8 Weeks Old – Ruff Life Rescue
A monetary contribution was made to Ruff Life Rescue to help aid in the extensive veterinary care for
three (3) extremely emaciated, approx. 4 month old pups found in a box in a vacant lot.  Their conditions
were so bad that they were walking down on their ankles and unable to support themselves.  They’re
development has been compromised due to the lack of nutrition at such a vital age. Most of their health
problems stem from being malnourished.

Update and adoption pages for each of these very lucky pups!

Sick Puppy Mill Shih Tzu pups – For the Love of Dogs Shelter & Clinic, Wilson, NC
Monetary donations made for 9 Shih Tzus, all victims of a puppy mill, suffering from severe mange,
malnourishment and were just very sick.  The owner is currently in jail and they hope to keep him there.

services and primary veterinary care to the underserved population of unwanted companion pets and
owned companion pets.

Rusty –Sherrill Durbin, Individual Rescuer,  of Tulsa, OK
A monetary contribution was made to the McKinney Animal Hospital in Sand Springs, OK to aid in the
recovery and neutering of a pit named Rusty.  Rusty was found by his rescuer tied up on the side of
Highway 117 near Sapulpa, OK. He was tied with rope around his hind legs, left to die in the 100 degree
weather on Friday, Aug. 1st. He's very skinny and weak, but is on the road to recovery.

Mercadey (Now named Cadey)–car strike victim – For the Love of Dogs Rescue, NH
A monetary contribution was made to aid in the surgery of Mercadey.  Apparently the owners decided to
bring her in because she stopped eating, they knew her leg was swollen but ignored it. She was struck by
a car 5 days prior to bringing her in. The family claimed that they had no money to bring her earlier so
released her to the vet clinic who was going to put her down.  Radiographs were taken and indicated that
she had a radius/ulna fracture repairable with surgery.  She was then released to a vet tech who just
happened to have a rescue.  Thanks Corey!

Al the Boston Terrier, Birmingham, AL
A monetary contribution was donated to aid in the care of a severely injured Boston Terrier.  A severely
injured Boston Terrier was dumped through a shoot at a shelter in Chilton County, Alabama, on 31 July
2008, and he was immediately rescued by Donna Farmer, President of the Birmingham Boston Terrier
Rescue, and taken to the office of Dr. Julie Grimes, DVM, in Birmingham, where he is now receiving urgent
medical care, including both pain management and infection prevention.
He has sustained severe and painful wounds to his back and neck . We suspect that hot grease was
poured on him, but cannot rule out the liklihood that we was used as training bait for fighting. His injuries
are nothing short of horrible. Despite all that he has been through, his disposition remains very sweet. His
recovery will be protracted and costly.  We have named him Al.

JOSH (formerly JAWS) - a Love Story!
